A statement issued by the Pakistan Bar Council says parliament, the Senate and the provincial assemblies should reject the new rules.
The Bar Council says political parties should also raise their voices against censorship, opposing political forces against oppressive laws.
The Pakistan Bar Council declares that the new social media laws conflict with Article 14 of the Constitution and 1948, while the new laws are also against international law and treaties.

On the new rules for the government's social media, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that these decisions were economic and not political.
